Projects Underway: Print

MAUVE? JOURNAL
This spring marks Mauve? Gallery turning two. In honor of this biennial event, we look to create a large format publication featuring the work of selected artists and makers from the inception of this alternative space.

Some of the featured work in this journal documents established artists fond of our modest venture; other work highlights emerging art forms by local craftspeople and related friends who grapple with creating while entertaining a place in the workforce. Among the illustrated pages a letter or two are included to enlighten and entertain.

Through new fundraising efforts and web-based publicity, we look to distribute this publication as a gift.

Our goals for this journal are to cross-pollinate within the domain of small, alternative exhibition spaces (sharing word, image, and venue); to create opportunities to “set-up-shop” anywhere (an open invitation to contribute to a richer urban experience); and to inspire people to pick one up, for free, setting up shop for themselves.

DESIGN
Impending design and layout appreciation goes out to Harish Bhandari, Executive Collaborator and Ghost Bird. (What ever would we do without you?)

ART SPACE TO THE EAST
John Rosenberg, Mauve?’s first official exhibiting artist, of Hella Fresh Theatre is dedicated to producing hella fresh theater.

Hella Fresh Theatre also has a home! They are proud to be the resident company of the Papermill Theater (a 30-seat venue), part of the Papermill Community for the Arts in Kensington, Philadelphia. The Papermill provides opportunities to Kensington's emerging playwrights, actors and directors to create their own work.
